The filmmaking program has beginner through advanced filmmaking classes, so whether you are just beginning, a seasoned Creator (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc.), or have previous experience in filmmaking, we have the class to match your skill set.
Dallas Film School provides hands-on experience with filmmaking technology widely used in the industry. Students gain a broad perspective of TV/Film production as they study not only the technology, but also the business of filmmaking while developing their unique voice towards the craft.

Spring 2024 Class Schedule
Kids Filmmaking I - Mixed Digital Media Fundamentals
Ages: 9-13
Dates: Class on Saturdays, Jan 13 - May 4
Time: 1:00-2:30pm
Description: Designed for kids, learn the fundamentals of end-to-end filmmaking through interactive lessons and hands-on experience as a filmmaker in several different types of video production. The projects range from student-produced creative work to other cross-platform short form content video production. Additionally, students enrolled in this class may also choose to participate/crew in other Dallas Film School productions.
Teens Filmmaking I - Narrative Storytelling Fundamentals
Ages: 13-19
Dates: Class on Saturdays, Jan 13 - Jun 1
Time: 2:30-5:00pm
Description: Learn the fundamentals of end-to-end filmmaking through interactive lessons and hands-on experience as a filmmaker in several different types of production. The intention is to give a solid foundation in filmmaking so students can produce projects from start to finish. Additionally, students enrolled in this class may also choose to participate/crew in other Dallas Film School productions.
Teens Filmmaking II - Mixed Digital Media Fundamentals
Ages: 13-19
Dates: Class on Saturdays, Jan 13 - Jun 1
Time: 10:00am-12:30pm
Description: Students go beyond the fundamentals of end-to-end filmmaking through interactive lessons and hands-on experience as a filmmaker in several professional productions. The class will cover production of commercials, television / streaming shows, and other cross-platform short form content. The projects range from student-produced creative work to client-based work.
Summer 2024 Camps and Workshops

Filmmaking Program Overview
While each class, summer camp or lab may have a unique curriculum or area of study, generally, Dallas Film School covers the following areas:
- Pre-Production: Writing, Producing, Researching, Budgeting, Scheduling, Casting, Location Scouting, Production Design (Color Palette, Set Design, Location Scouting, Wardrobe, Props, etc.)
- Production: Directing, Producing, Cinematography (Director of Photography, Camera Operation, Assistant Camera team, Grip & Electric), Aerial/Drone Cinematography, Lighting, Sound, Photography.
- Post-Production: Editing, Color Grading, Sound Editing, Graphic Design, SFX, Marketing, Press Releases.
